Right Arrow Legal Case Studies

Case Study:

Parental leave creates short-term need for deep in-house experience in the tech industry

The Client
Endpoint and cloud security solutions provider
    Greater Boston based
    Estimated ~$135M in annual revenue
Relevant Circumstances
    Small in-house legal team
GC concerned about burnout if in-house legal team asked to absorb workload during a team member’s parental leave
The Challenge

Identifying a knowledgeable, cost-effective resource to fill in during the parental leave of an in-house legal team member.

Given the relatively short-term nature of the need, the client needed a resource with deep in-house experience in the tech industry to ‘parachute in,’ get up to speed quickly, and provide value immediately.

The Outcome

Right Arrow Legal immediately drove both sales and key strategic partner deals to closure.

Right Arrow Legal’s deep in-house experience in the tech industry positions its resources perfectly to provide broad-based commercial and other support to in-house legal teams on an interim basis. This engagement, in addition to being short-term in duration, was also part-time, highlighting Right Arrow Legal’s cost effectiveness in the market.

Case Study:

Bandwidth issue prevents progress on key strategic initiatives

The Client
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform provider
    Greater Boston based
    Estimated ~$100M in annual revenue
Relevant Circumstances
Small in-house legal team with GC also serving as Chief People Officer
Lack of capacity (one in-house attorney, aside from GC / Chief People Officer) prevented progress on key initiatives
The Challenge

For Legal to drive key strategic initiatives to closure with extremely-limited in-house bandwidth.

The day-to-day legal work, coupled with unforeseen issues that arise constantly at growth-stage tech companies, created an overwhelming amount of work for the one in-house, non-GC attorney.

The Outcome

Right Arrow Legal took on the key strategic project work to allow the in-house attorney to focus on the day-to-day commercial and other needs of the business.

The client’s marketing team had been awaiting receipt from Legal of privacy compliance guidance in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, which Right Arrow Legal provided in short order. Additionally, Right Arrow Legal drafted and revised various company policies, which had been in the in-house legal team’s backlog, for the client to implement.

Case Study:

Commercial skills gap stalls revenue-generation capabilities

The Client
    Additive manufacturing platform provider
    Greater Boston based
    ~$94M in annual revenue
Relevant Circumstances
Small in-house legal team with large experience gap between GC and junior attorney
High-$ revenue opportunities becoming stalled from skills and experience gap
The Challenge

For Legal to provide commercial support to Sales organization for high-$ revenue-generating opportunities.

The GC did not have the bandwidth, and the remaining members of the in-house Legal team did not have the relevant experience, to help to drive large revenue deals to closure.

The Outcome

Right Arrow Legal’s deep in-house commercial experience comes through.

When a large ($1M+ in revenue) opportunity had been stalled, Right Arrow Legal quickly worked directly with the relevant business teams, simplified the proposed contractual documentation significantly, and helped to drive the deal to closure, all while providing mentorship for the client’s junior in-house attorney.
